South Africa: nGAP Lecturer Digitalisation of TVET Post Schooling Education

About the Role

The Nelson Mandela University is seeking a Lecturer to join its Faculty of Education in the Department of Post Schooling, as part of the New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP). The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to the digitalisation of TVET education and promoting research in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education. We invite applicants who are passionate about pursuing a career in academia and have a strong background in education, digital learning, or related fields.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage and manage teaching, learning, and curriculum development in the digitalisation of TVET for sustainability within the Post Schooling Department
  • Promote and conduct research in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education
  • Mentor and supervise postgraduate students at Honours and Masters level
  • Mentor and evaluate students during College Based Learning
  • Participate in academic administration, including serving on faculty committees
  • Engage in professional development activities to stay abreast of advancements in the areas of Digitisation, Robotics, AI in education, education pedagogies, and research methodologies

Requirements

  • Minimum: Relevant Master’s degree in Education/TVET/Digital Learning/Sustainability or equivalent
  • The master’s degree must be achieved with an average of 70% or above
  • The candidate must be a registered PhD candidate or intending to register within the first or second year of the appointment with clear evidence of research focused on the themes related to Digitalisation of TVET for sustainability
  • Minimum 1 year in lecturing and/or tutoring or some other form of facilitating learning in the higher education sector in digital transformation, ICT/EdTech, or 4IR/digital skills and/or related fields
