Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Take end-to-end technical responsibility for high-voltage substation projects from design through to commissioning
  • Coordinate primary and secondary engineering activities across multidisciplinary project teams
  • Act as technical lead within complex HV projects, ensuring alignment between design, construction, and commissioning
  • Manage technical planning, progress tracking, risk identification, and mitigation activities
  • Support project budgeting, scheduling, and resource planning in collaboration with project management
  • Interface with TSOs, grid operators, industrial clients, and other key stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards, safety requirements, and quality systems
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight throughout all project phases

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering
  • Extensive experience on high-voltage projects within the 110–380 kV range
  • Strong background in both primary and secondary high-voltage engineering
  • Proven experience acting as technical lead on complex engineering projects
  • Experience with project planning, budgeting, progress tracking, and risk management
  • Hands-on experience working with TSOs, grid operators, or industrial clients
  • Structured, analytical, safety- and quality-focused mindset
  • Fluent in English and Afrikaans, with willingness to learn Dutch
  • Preferably experience with an EPC or contractor that both engineers and constructs high-voltage substations
