Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Consultant to act as a technical thought leader within our client’s Group Technology environment. This role will be responsible for designing, integrating, and optimising enterprise storage, backup, and archiving solutions, ensuring alignment with the banks strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities: Storage Engineering & Architecture

Design and implement enterprise storage solutions (SAN, NAS, Object Storage, HCI)

Configure and optimise storage platforms (Dell EMC, NetApp, Pure Storage, Hitachi)
-
Develop storage tiering strategies aligned to business needs
-
Lead storage refresh, migration, and consolidation initiatives
-
Perform capacity planning and forecasting
Backup & Recovery
-
Architect and manage backup solutions (Commvault, Veeam, Rubrik, Cohesity, TSM)
-
Define backup policies, retention strategies, and schedules
-
Design and test Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions
-
Optimise backup performance and storage efficiency
-
Integrate backup solutions with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP)
Archiving & Compliance

Develop enterprise archiving strategies
-
Implement archiving tools (IBM Optim, Mimecast, Enterprise Vault)
-
Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks (POPIA, SARB, SARS, PFMA)

Drive data lifecycle management and retention policies
Requirements:

Minimum 8 years experience in enterprise storage, backup, or infrastructure engineering

Strong experience with:

Storage: SAN, NAS, Object Storage

Backup tools: Commvault, Veeam, Rubrik, Cohesity

Cloud platforms: Azure, AWS, or GCP

Experience in banking or highly regulated environments preferred

Strong understanding of data governance and compliance frameworks

Proven experience in architecture, design, and technical leadership
