About the Role
We are seeking a talented Sous Chef to join the kitchen brigade of a refined luxury hospitality property in a sought-after bush setting. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate culinary professional who thrives on beautifully plated service, thoughtful presentation, and the delivery of a memorable dining experience in a high-standard lodge environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes
- Estimate daily production needs including checking the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met
- Working closely with all senior chefs in creating and elevating all aspects of the culinary experience
- Able to develop, train and inspire a diverse team of junior chefs
- Managing food control systems to ensure margins are maintained
- Strict adherence to all agreed regulations, especially with regards to security, environment and hygiene regulations
Requirements
- Culinary qualification from a recognised institution
- Min. 4 – 5 years relevant experience gained within upscale establishments, such as luxury lodges or hotels
- In depth knowledge of health and safety, including food safety and hygiene
- Extensive knowledge of all dietary requirements
- Strong work ethic, punctual and with a balanced team personality
- Guest centric approach
Salary & Benefits
Basic monthly remuneration of approx. R15, 000.00 NEG. PLUS – 1 meal per day from the staff canteen; Gratuities – pooled & direct; Provident fund – 100% coverage by the company; Medical insurance – 100% coverage by the company; Uniform and laundry thereof; Complimentary staff shuttle service is provided for shift transport
Work Cycle
21 days on, 7 days off Must be flexible and open to shift / weekend / holiday / evening work / other possible change in line with operational requirements
