Hospitality Hire is partnering with a respected recruitment agency in the search for a Sommelier to join the dining team of a luxury hotel in Cape Town. This role is dedicated to delivering refined, world-class wine service that enhances every dining occasion while celebrating the best of Southern Africa’s terroirs and international vineyards.

The Role
As Sommelier, you will be the custodian of the wine cellar and the curator of guests’ wine journeys. With elegance, precision, and a deep passion for oenology, you will ensure each dining experience is elevated into a lasting memory.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide elegant, attentive, and tailored wine service to all guests
• Recommend and present wines with authority, creating pairings that complement and elevate the culinary journey
• Maintain the wine cellar, including sourcing, stock control, and selection with a focus on quality and exclusivity
• Curate and evolve the wine list, featuring exceptional vineyards and vintages, with emphasis on Southern African terroirs
• Deliver training and mentorship to service staff, instilling a culture of wine appreciation and excellence
• Uphold the property’s reputation for world-class dining through expert knowledge and refined presentation

Minimum Requirements

• Proven experience as a Sommelier, Wine Steward/Stewardess, or in a fine dining environment
• Extensive knowledge of Southern African wines, with strong appreciation of international regions
• Demonstrated ability to create refined, thoughtful food and wine pairings
• Certification from Cape Wine Academy or WSET Level 2 (or higher) essential
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the confidence to engage discerning guests
• Professional appearance and polished demeanour aligned with luxury hospitality standards
