The tasks you’ll perform Perform accurate engineering design and calculations for foundation, concrete and steel structures. Interpret engineering drawings, documents, specifications and scopes. Identify variations and prepare relevant documentations Conduct timely reviews of project structural and civil drawings to achieve full compliance with design intent. Liaise with and provide professional support to the drafting team in the preparation of drawing deliverables. Develop technical documentation including scopes of work and specifications using relevant industry standards and guidelines. Load engineering, calculate loads imposed by equipment, piping and cabling, including live and impact loads. Comprehend various load combinations. Provide accurate material take-offs as and when required. Evaluate tenders and provide technical recommendations for the purchase of structural and civil equipment from vendors where necessary. Review vendor certified documentation and disseminate the information to the appropriate personnel for interface checking. Assist with the delivery of project documentation in relation to scope, quantities, cost and schedule (man-hour budgets, design schedules and estimates). Register and file all relevant project documentation in accordance with the company approved procedures. Work in conjunction with a range of internal and external stakeholders to meet project design criteria and deliverables. Contribute to engineers in training professional development by providing consistent mentoring and identify avenues of development. Proactively support other team members as required to ensure project deliverables are met. Manage external consultants and perform peer reviews on their deliverables. Travel on ad-hoc basis to suit the needs of the business and its operations. The expertise you’ll bring University degree in Structural and Civil Engineering or equivalent. A minimum of 5+ years of experience in mineral processing and/or related industries. Registration as a Professional Engineer with ECSA. South African Citizen or Permanent Resident Cape Town based Previous experience in management and leading large teams of people. Exceptional ability to multitask and work at pace in a complex and challenging EPCM sector. Solid technical aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills. Build and sustain positive relationships with all stakeholders, including clients, vendors and co-workers. Ability to work with people at all levels within an organisation and external providers. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise to a high standard of accuracy and professionalism. Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision whilst consistently producing a high quality of deliverables. Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and commitment. Demonstrate a strict practice of confidentiality, personal responsibility and discretion. High attention to detail and exceptional knowledge of managing contracts in the resources sector.
