Job Summary

My client, a leading and well known retailer needs an experienced Branch /Store Manager for their Piketberg store about 130km north of Cape Town MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB To manage the store and the staff and oversee the sale of goods to customers. To ensure that the store reaches its financial targets, generates a profit and remains within budget. JOB REQUIREMENTS Diploma / Grade 12 with maths. Experiencing in managing a retail store. Previous experience in the furniture retail industry. Knowledge of the area in which the store is based and existing relationships within the local farming/business community. Understanding of financial reporting. Strong product knowledge. Experience in managing teams including experience in performance management & industrial relations. Computer literacy. Fluent in both English and Afrikaans. Drivers licence. SA Citizens only Clear Crimal and Credit Record Must reside in the Piketberg area SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES & COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS Conflict management skills. Strong sense of honesty & integrity. Customer/service orientated. Good communication and listening skills. Accurate with attention to detail. Self-motivated & resilient. Assertive and the ability to plan and organize. Responsible/accountableand persuasive. DUTIES: FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT 1. Manage sales and reach targets. 2. Manage profits and reach targets. 3. Manage and minimise bad debt. 4. Manage the store budget (including petty cash). CUSTOMER MANAGEMENT: 1. Oversee the management of customer complaints. 2. Ensure customer complaints are resolved in a timely manner. 3. Maintain relations with customer base. 4. Find ways to expand customer base. 5. Ensure follow-up services to customers. SALES 1. Set daily targets. 2. Manage delivery charges. CREDIT CONTROL 1. Authorize all HP deals and ensure necessary paperwork is attached. 2. Ensure all insurance claims are handled effectively & efficiently. 3. Oversee the collection on FPDs and arrear accounts. STOCK CONTROL 1. Maintain stock levels and submit weekly replenishment orders. 2. Oversee all stock movement in and out of the store. 3. Maintain prescribed percentage of aged/repossessed goods in relation to total stock. 4. Action all aged & repossessed goods. 5. Oversee daily sectional stock counts and manage monthly stock counts. 6. Resolve all stock discrepancies. 7. Authorize all stock movements in and out of the store. 8. Oversee the management of all Lay-Byes. 9. Ensure all ticketing is correct and that price changes are implemented. FIXED ASSET MANAGEMENT 1. Oversee the management of all fixed assets within the store. 2. Ensure that the necessary paper work relating to fixed assets is completed (register, movement forms, insurance claims etc.). 3. Assist in resolving any variances that may arise from the fixed asset stock takes. CASH CONTROL 1. Authorize daily cash-ups and banking. 2. Resolve any variances on the cash-ups. 3. Check manual cash sales and manual receipt books. 4. Petty cash analysis. DELIVERIES AND COLLECTIONS 1. Schedule daily deliveries and collections. 2. Ensure that delivery vehicles are in good shape and undergo regular maintenance. MARKETING 1. Implement monthly marketing plan. 2. Ensure the Display policy & procedure is adhered to. 3. Organize product promotions or use initiatives to promote sales and generate cash. 4. Carry out monthly marketing instruction. 5. Oversee the distribution of brochures. 6. Oversee the organizing of promotional events. HUMAN RESOURCES AND STAFF MANAGEMENT 1. Oversee other staff, delegate duties to them and evaluate their performance. 2. Maintain attendance registers. 3. Allocate & plan staff leave & days-off. 4. Monitor all staff leave. 5. Handle and/or resolve any employee disciplinary and/or grievance issues. 6. Hold effective meetings and clearly set individual targets and levels of work required. 7. Motivate staff to achieve monthly targets. 8. Conduct bi-annual performance discussions with staff. 9. Conduct monthly sales performance discussions with Sales Staff. 10. Implement & manage the Dress & Uniform policy. 11. Recruit new staff members. 12. Ensure that all procedures are followed with new employees and manage the training of new recruits. STAFF TRAINING 1. Organize and manage weekly product knowledge training for staff. 2. Organize and manage regular supplier training sessions for staff. 3. Maintain training registers for all training conducted. 4. Release staff members for in-house & external training. MEETING AND TARGET SETTING 1. Conduct daily meetings to set targets. 2. Conduct weekly meetings to discuss sales, promotions, stock requirements, repairs, deliveries, collections, Head Office notifications and HR issues. ADMINISTRATION 1. Oversee, manage and authorize all sales, credit, cash, stock and delivery/collection functions. 2.Manage branch telephone system: monitoring, allocating staff expenses etc. 3. Monitor all daily reports and discuss with staff. 4. Adhere to daily, weekly & monthly checklists. 5. Communicate effectively with Head Office and other branches as required. IT MANAGEMENT 1. Ensure compliance with the Internet & E-mail Usage policy. 2. Ensure Trader Connect is running smoothly and do daily back-ups. 3. Run daily back-ups. 4. Manage all IT related issues. HOUSEKEEPING 1. Oversee the daily cleaning of the store. 2. Ensure the store is neat & tidy and free of broken fittings, lights, equipment etc. 3. Ensure that the store is safe for both staff and customers and apply the companys Health & Safety policy. 4. Oversee the maintenance and functioning of all office equipment & furniture. 5. Ensure the safety of the store & goods by maintaining the alarm & security systems
