The Refrigeration Technician will primarily focus on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing refrigeration equipment, with a special emphasis on compressors, glycol and water chiller loops (3-loop systems), and ammonia refrigeration systems. The technician will be required to work on juice dispensers from time to time, ensuring they are fully operational. Main Purpose/Objectives of the Job: Promotion Campaigns and Events: Execute promotional campaigns, trade shows, and events to showcase products to customers and end consumers. Collaborate with the marketing team to develop fun and exciting ways to make our brand come to life. Be able to plan for daily, monthly and quarterly promotion campaigns to ensure trade effectiveness and execution. Actively merchandise product and equipment increasing visibility at events. Refrigeration Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration issues, with a focus on compressors, glycol/water chiller systems, and ammonia refrigeration systems. Carry out repairs efficiently to minimize downtime for clients. Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and maintenance on refrigeration systems, ensuring optimum performance of glycol, water chiller loops, ammonia systems, and related equipment. Preventative maintenance on juice dispensers may also be required as part of scheduled tasks. Installation: Install new refrigeration systems, including compressors, glycol and water chiller loops, and ammonia systems, ensuring they meet safety and performance standards. Occasionally assist in the setup and installation of juice dispensers. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OHS Act regulations and refrigeration safety protocols, ensuring a safe work environment. Ensure compliance with SAQCC Gas registration when handling refrigerant gases. Record Keeping: Maintain detailed service records for repairs, maintenance activities, and installations. Provide feedback on system performance and identify areas for improvements or upgrades. Customer Service: Communicate effectively with clients, explaining issues and solutions in a professional and approachable manner. Provide maintenance tips and advice to clients to extend the life of their equipment. Required Skills & Qualifications: Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of refrigeration systems, including compressors, glycol/water chiller loops (3-loop systems), and ammonia refrigeration systems. Experience in troubleshooting and maintaining complex refrigeration setups. Refrigeration Qualification: Refrigeration Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal) required. SAQCC Gas registration is essential to comply with industry standards. Qualifications Minimum of 2-3 years experience in refrigeration. Experience in ammonia refrigeration systems, glycol systems, and water chillers. Experience with juice dispensers is a plus, but not the primary focus of the role. Troubleshooting & Repair: Strong ability to diagnose complex refrigeration issues and perform repairs quickly and efficiently. Physical Abilities: Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and work in diverse conditions. Additional Skills: Good communication skills for client interaction and collaboration with the team. Excellent time management skills to prioritize repairs and preventative maintenance. Driver”s License: Code 10 license with PDP (Professional Driving Permit) is required for on-site travel. Working Hours: Occasional standby duty required after hours, weekends, and public holidays for emergency repairs or preventative maintenance. Tools & Equipment: Company will provide tools, PPE, and uniform for the role.

Preventative Maintenance: Performing scheduled maintenance tasks from work orders and time allocations. Troubleshooting and Repairs: Identifying and resolving issues around utilities equipment. Safety Compliance: Ensuring adherence to PPE protocols and all safety regulations related to ammonia handling, pressure vessels, critical valves and other statutory requirements as per OHS act, SANS 10147 and other relevant regulations. Documentation: Keeping detailed records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs. Developing quick fix routines, standard work instructions and root cause analysis for breakdowns within areas of responsibility. Operating Equipment: Operating lifting machinery and other equipment required for maintenance tasks. Quality Control: Ensuring all quality, housekeeping, safety, and production standards are adhered to. Training and Supervision: Assisting experienced technicians and providing training to apprentices and assistants. Emergency Response: Obtain training in emergency procedures and safety equipment usage, including the “buddy-buddy” system.
