Kendrick Recruitment is now seeking a guest-focused, career-driven Assistant Food & Beverage Manager for a renowned luxury wilderness reserve based in the Western Cape. This is an exciting opportunity for a charismatic hospitality professional with strong leadership skills and a flair for delivering exceptional service.

Job Summary:
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, service-orientated leader with a sense of urgency and high attention to detail. The role involves supporting the day-to-day operations of the Food & Beverage department and assisting with guest interaction, team leadership, cost control, and training initiatives.

Minimum Requirements:

• Diploma in Hotel or Food & Beverage Management

• Minimum 4 years experience in a 4/5* hotel, including at least 2 years managing a F&B outlet

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

• Operational experience with Point of Sale systems (Micros preferred)

• Operational experience with stock management systems (FnBShop advantageous)

• Exposure to Opera advantageous

• Highly presentable with excellent verbal and written English communication skills

• Familiarity with hospitality terminology, particularly F&B vocabulary

• Solid understanding of restaurant financials and stock control

• Experience with service recovery

• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays

Advantageous Experience:

• Exposure to Micros Symphony

• WSET Level 1 or Level 2 (Wine and Food Pairing)

• Previous training experience

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist outlet management with daily operations and guest interaction, especially during peak periods

• Manage the operating equipment store, including purchasing and distribution

• Plan and execute F&B special events and promotions to drive revenue and brand visibility

• Prepare staff rosters, balancing business needs with labour cost control

• Monitor and manage operating costs in line with the budget

• Coordinate and support departmental training

The successful candidate will support outlet management in day-to-day operations while ensuring an exceptional guest experience and maintaining the highest standards of service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support outlet management in daily operations and guest engagement during peak meal times

• Control and manage operating equipment stores, including purchasing and issuing equipment to outlets

• Plan and execute food and beverage special events, contributing to promotional ideas to drive revenue and PR

• Finalise staff rosters, ensuring sufficient labour in line with business levels while controlling labour costs

• Manage operating costs in accordance with budgetary requirements

• Coordinate training within the department to maintain high service standards

Minimum Requirements:

• Diploma in Hotel or Food & Beverage Management

• Minimum of 4 years experience in a 4- or 5-star hotel, including at least 2 years managing a food and beverage outlet

• Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

• Experience operating Point of Sale systems; Micros advantageous

• Experience with stock management systems; FnBShop advantageous

• Exposure to Opera system advantageous

• Highly presentable with excellent verbal and written English communication skills

• Fluent in hospitality terminology, particularly food and beverage vocabulary

• Knowledge of restaurant financials, stock control, and resolving stock discrepancies

• Experience in service recovery

• Flexible to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts
