Job Description
- Accounting: Ensure accurate financial reporting by collecting and processing accounts efficiently and in accordance with treaty terms and conditions. Apply current legislation and guidelines (VAT, Sanctions, etc.), prepare cedent reconciliations, follow up on outstanding accounts, and reconcile performance-based commissions. Analyse treaty statistics and initiate commission adjustments where appropriate.
- Claims: Support capital management by processing and reconciling claims data, ensuring accuracy of reserves and related entries.
- Credit Control: Strengthen financial performance by ensuring timeous collection of receivables, communicating large payments to relevant stakeholders, and processing reconciled payments when due.
- Data Quality Management: Enhance financial data integrity by liaising with underwriters to correct treaty encoding discrepancies, including shares, VAT, brokerage, commission percentages, and responsible parties.
- Communication & Stakeholder Management: Partner with internal and external stakeholders — including Finance, Actuarial, and Underwriting — to provide updates, resolve queries, and ensure transparent financial communication.
Job Experience and Skills Required:
- Education: Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related qualification (essential)
- Experience: 2–4 years’ experience within a finance environment; exposure to insurance or reinsurance is highly advantageous
- Technical Skills: Proficient in accounting principles (debits, credits, assets, liabilities, income, and expenses) with strong reconciliation abilities
- Systems & Tools: Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with accounting or reporting systems
- Attributes: Diligent, detail-oriented, and capable of managing complex data within a fast-paced, global environment
