Overview
My Client a Client a leading international professionally-managed industrial and services conglomerate, engaged in diverse operations in East Africa. One of its flagship company being a Sugar farming and Manufacturing company, is in the business of cultivation and production of Sugar, alcohol and Electricity. It has a 7,500 TCD Sugar Factory with two milling tandems, producing 180,000 tons of sugar, 50 MW electricity and 65 KLPD distillery in Uganda.
The company is certified for ISO 9001 / 14001 / 18001. The Company is currently crushing 2.2 million tons of sugar cane annually which is supplied from their own estate of 14,000 ha plus out-growers are of 26,000 ha with 9,000 farmers. The company has ambitious plans to expand its sugar business in Africa in the next two years through acquisitions and Greenfield projects as well as expansion. In preparation for its expansion plans, the Group seeks to recruit a Head of Out Growers – Operations Manager.

- Salary: A Highly competitive US $ basic Salary – open for negotiation

Desired Candidate Profile
- B.Sc. – Agriculture or equivilent Industry Related qualification
- 20 years of experience in sugar industry only
Job Description:
Reporting to Head of Agriculture the incumbent will be:
- overall in-charge of out-growers cane development, cane supply,
- day-to-day management of 250 staff and related equipment
- responsible for developing / providing services to the farmers, namely preparing land, supplying of treated seed cane, fertilizers, herbicides, advances and providing comfort letters to get the bank loans, controlling coordinating and supervising all agricultural management practices / modern methods of sugar cane cultivation, increase private farmers coverage and their productivity, preparation and control of annual budgets, supervising staff and workers.
