Cape Town City Centre: Finance Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a technically strong, driven and commercially curious Group Accountant to join a fast-growing, entrepreneurial property investment and development group listed on the Cape Town Stock Exchange. This role is ideal for a newly qualified CA(SA) (or 1-2 years PQE) or a CIMA professional with strong consolidations exposure, who wants meaningful operational involvement, broad business exposure and a clear growth path towards future growth. About the Company: They are a dynamic, hands-on property group with a portfolio, expected to almost double within the next 2-3 years due to major development projects in the pipeline. The business operates in a r elaxed, entrepreneurial environment, yet maintains the technical demands and discipline of a listed company. The successful candidate will work closely with a small, experienced leadership team and gain significant exposure across operations, strategy, modelling, financial reporting and project accounting. What you will be doing: Financial Management & Technical Accounting Review monthly management accounts for all entities in the group Manage, mentor and support the in-house accountant Provide technical IFRS support to the business Review VAT reconciliations and submit VAT201s for 11 entities Review income tax calculations (incl. deferred tax) and submit all provisional and annual tax returns Handle SARS and VAT audits Group Accounting, Consolidations & External Reporting Prepare interim and year-end consolidations in Excel across 12 entities (subsidiaries, associates, JVs) Prepare interim and year-end IFRS financial statements Manage year-end audit files and cash-flow workings Liaise directly with external auditors and manage audit timelines Operational Finance & Property Industry Exposure Project accounting and budget management for new building developments Review monthly tenant recoveries and rentals (16 tenants) Analyse electricity and solar recoveries Review annual valuation packs for valuators and debt providers Oversee treasury management and cash-flow forecasting Compliance, Governance & Stakeholder Engagement Ensure company secretarial compliance Manage insurance policies across the property portfolio Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, auditors, and executives Support CFO and CEO with information requests and ad hoc analysis Who We’re Looking For: Qualifications CA(SA) – newly qualified or up to 2 years PQE OR CIMA with proven consolidations strong IFRS competence Experience & Skills Exposure to consolidations (advantage: property audit clients) Solid grasp of IFRS and listed-company reporting cycles Strong Excel skills Ability to manage tight deadlines during audit and interim periods Comfortable operating in a small, hands-on team Personal Attributes Proactive and takes initiative Curious, eager to learn, passionate about property Easy-going and adaptable, yet highly accountable Strong organisational and problem-solving skills Thrives in an entrepreneurial environment Why This Role is Exceptional Potential succession path within ±5 years Broad exposure across technical accounting, operations, modelling, and strategy Opportunity to work directly with the executive team Blend of listed-company complexity with entrepreneurial culture Significant growth happening in the business and portfolio A role that genuinely stretches and develops a young finance professional Location & Working Model Somerset West (on-site) Entrepreneurial, open-plan environment Flexible when needed Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
