Financial Reporting

• Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting schedules
• Ensure accurate general ledger maintenance and reconciliations
• Assist with preparation of annual financial statements
• Ensure compliance with IFRS / IFRS for SMEs (where applicable)
• Prepare financial reports for internal and external stakeholders

Month-End & Year-End Close

• Manage month-end close processes and deadlines
• Perform balance sheet and income statement reconciliations
• Review journals, accruals, provisions and prepayments
• Assist with year-end audit preparation and auditor queries

Tax & Statutory Compliance

• Prepare and review VAT returns and reconciliations
• Assist with income tax calculations and provisional tax submissions
• Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
• Liaise with auditors, tax consultants and external service providers

Controls & Governance

• Maintain and improve financial controls and processes
• Identify risks, errors or inefficiencies and propose improvements
• Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures
• Support internal and external audits

Operational Finance Support

• Support budgeting and forecasting processes
• Assist with cash flow management and analysis
• Provide financial insights to management when required
• Collaborate with operational teams to ensure accurate financial data

Qualifications & Experience

Education

• BCom in Accounting (required)
• BCom Accounting Honours (advantageous)
• Completed SAICA / SAIPA articles (advantageous)

Experience

• 3–7 years’ experience in a Financial Accountant role
• Experience in audit or a structured finance environment preferred
• Strong understanding of accounting standards and reporting

Skills & Competencies

• Strong technical accounting and reconciliation skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to meet deadlines in a pressurised environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems (e.g. Sage, Pastel, ERP)

Job Experience and Skills Required:

Education:

• Matric/Grade 12 (essential)
• Bachelor of Commerce degree

Experience:

• 3–4 years’ experience in Accounting (reconciliations, financial reporting, financial statements)
• High proficiency in Excel
• Advantageous experience in ACCPAC and/or the Forex industry
• Tax exposure beneficial
