About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Assistant Workshop Manager to join our team in Johannesburg, Gauteng. As an integral part of our service workshop operations, you will play a crucial role in ensuring productivity, quality, and turnaround targets are met. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in managing daily workshop operations to ensure productivity, quality, and turnaround targets are met
- Support leadership and motivation of technicians, apprentices, service advisors, and support staff
- Ensure vehicles are serviced and repaired to OEM standards and “fixed first time” principles
- Drive customer satisfaction and assist with managing customer queries and escalations
- Monitor workflow, labour utilisation, and efficiency to achieve labour sales and profit targets
- Assist with warranty administration, ensuring claims are processed accurately and timeously
- Support inventory management, stock control, and parts coordination with relevant departments
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards within the workshop
- Maintain accurate administrative records and workshop reporting
Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12 with a recognised motor trade test certificate (Red Seal)
- Tertiary qualification in management, operations, finance, sales, or similar will be advantageous
- Minimum 8 years experience within a dealership service workshop environment
- Previous experience as a Workshop Foreman, Assistant Workshop Manager, Service Manager, or Senior Service Advisor
- Strong technical knowledge of vehicle servicing, maintenance, and repair processes
- Proven ability to manage and lead technical and frontline teams
- Customer-focused with the ability to manage expectations and resolve issues professionally
