About the Role
Helderberg Personnel is seeking a skilled Technical Manager to oversee the post-harvest aspects of our apple and pear products, ensuring quality and marketability for our customers. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing post-harvest systems, collaborating with stakeholders, and driving technical fruit quality and compliance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage post-harvest systems and protocols to assure quality and marketability of packed product
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to build and implement technical fruit quality and compliance systems
- Align these systems to ensure product quality and compliance according to different customer specifications
- Interpret data on all technical aspects of fruit throughout the system to optimize allocation of fruit into ideal protocols and regimes
- Develop and adapt post-harvest fruit handling protocols to protect commercial value fruit throughout the season by maximizing packout and reducing waste
- Implement systems maximizing the quality of packed fresh fruit while reducing quality defects and claims in the market
Requirements
- BSc-Degree in Horticulture / Food Science (Post-Harvest) or Similar Tertiary Qualifications
- Relevant Training and Experience in Food Safety and Compliance Systems
- At least 5-8 years experience within the fruit & packhouse industry
- Intermediate MS Office skills with advanced Excel
- Data Analytics
- Good data analytic, problem solving and reporting skills
Qualifications
- A BSc-Degree in Horticulture / Food Science (Post-Harvest) or Similar Tertiary Qualifications
