About the Role
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team in Cape Town on a 4-month contract, covering maternity leave. As the vital link between our Operationals Teams, HR, and Finance, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and process accurate and timely weekly and monthly payroll runs.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, labour laws, and company policies.
- Address payroll queries and discrepancies efficiently.
- Ensure all overtime is approved before processing.
- Handle medical aid and pension fund applications, changes, and terminations.
- Assist employees with Two-Pot Retirement System applications.
- Reconcile medical, pension, and union contributions.
- Add and update employees on Sage 300 People (payroll system).
- Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure data integrity.
- Update employee banking details and ensure correct payment processing.
- Process new employee onboarding, contract terminations, and final payments.
- Ensure exit procedures related to payroll and benefits are correctly handled.
- Prepare and submit weekly and monthly payroll reports.
- Ensure payroll-related compliance with SARS, UIF, and other statutory bodies.
- Generate reports on payroll costs, deductions, and overtime.
- Conduct monthly headcount comparisons (budget vs. actual) and provide reasons for deviations.
- Reconcile data between the Time & Attendance (T&A) system, Jarisson, and Sage to ensure payroll accuracy.
Requirements
- Education: Matric (Grade 12) required; Diploma or Degree in Finance, Payroll, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Previous payroll experience in a similar role is advantageous.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to work under pressure.
- Systems Knowledge: Experience with payroll software (e.g., Sage 300 People), Time & Attendance systems, and Excel proficiency.
