About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Buyer to join our team in Paarl, who will be responsible for managing the full Purchase Order (PO) process, maintaining accurate records and documentation, and building positive relationships with suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtain quotes for materials as per specifications received from Project Managers, Site Managers, and Quantity Surveyors
- Receive, verify site material requisitions
- Manage the full PO process on RIB Buildsmart
- Create, issue, and track POs
- Ensure accuracy of specifications, quantities, and pricing
- Follow up on order confirmations and delivery schedules
- Capture and reconcile delivery notes; investigate and resolve discrepancies with Accounts, suppliers, and sites
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for all procurement transactions
- Maintain and update Material on Site (MOS) registers for all active projects
- Work closely with the Site Storeman to manage stock levels, minimise wastage, and ensure secure storage of materials
- Support inventory reporting, reconciliation, and audits
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with suppliers and service providers
- Obtain and compare quotes for free-issued materials according to the instructions and specifications from QS teams and Project Managers
- Conduct ongoing supplier evaluations (performance, pricing, compliance, reliability)
- Vet potential suppliers for legitimacy, financial stability, and alignment with the company’s ethical and legal standards
- Monitor market trends to latest products available, product enhancements, etc.
