SECURITY MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN Report to Site Security Manager and Estate Operations Manager. 1. REPORTING – Report to the Site Security Manager – Manage and control security technical assistant and security general labourer in respect of their quantity and quality of work and time and attendance performance. 2. MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES – Ensure security systems & equipment are operational always & report breakdowns, non-compliances, or identified risks immediately as per the reporting structure. (Perimeter fences, all gates, cameras, energizers, generators, inverters, UPS s, lights, computers, monitors, joysticks, key bords, boom gates, turnstiles & NEPAD system). – Daily check critical stocks and ensure replacement is ordered & allow for service provider lead times. Ensure critical item discussions are minuted in daily maintenance feedback sessions. – Perform repairs and preventative maintenance repairs as per breakdowns reported and as per preventative maintenance scheduled. This includes weekly fence voltage/ zoning checks and physical inspection of fences and cameras covering viewing, erosion, tampering, and damages. – A job card system must be maintained for all jobs reported/listed and signed off when completed by the Site security or technical manager. – Ensure the site is covered 24/7 for emergency repairs by rotating standby with the Technical Assistant and ensure all have access to the company bakkie, tools, and equipment needed. Where any situation is experienced when a fault/failure cannot be immediately addressed causing fences, cameras, or systems to go down the site security manager must be immediately informed to allow him to alert the control room and get SOPs initiated to cover the area till the problem can be resolved. – Such incidents must be reported on the correct Whats App groups and if needed proper risk assessments/fault analysis must be done and proper reports submitted to the security committee for discussion and decision-making purposes. – Assist with training your subordinates and control room operators to ensure critical data can be retrieved soonest, and that fence, gate, and CCTV alarms can be detected accurately as it happens to ensure SOPs can be initiated and risks mitigated as expected from a reputable secure site/Estate. – Equipment, vehicle, and toll maintenance must be controlled with checklists and proper records kept as the site security administrator and includes diesel used & note that only the Access controller/Environment manager is authorized to issue diesel. – All ordering of equipment and parts assistance from other service providers must be done via the technical manager and after-hours approval must be given via e-mail. This includes liaison with Metro/other state officials. 3. KNOWLEDGE/KNOW HOW TO DO THE JOB – Valid code 8 vehicle license with no endorsements & reliable transport to attend work and perform after-hour breakdowns. – Preferable Grade 12 and or some security equipment/systems/procedures type training – Sound knowledge of security electric fences, energizers, generators & inverters systems, /procedures/equipment with its placing, setting up, and integrating with existing equipment/systems. – Able to do basic problem-solving and troubleshooting & participate in fault analysis, risk identification, and finding alternate solutions. – Good basic knowledge of supervision and discipline of subordinates, time keeping and control of the job performance of others – Sound knowledge of safe work practices and stock & equipment control 4. SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR THE JOB – Good practical skills in performing small projects/repairs like camera installations, fence repairs, boom gate and turnstile replacements, and monitor and other security equipment installations e.g. NVRs, PCs & UPS. – Lead by example concerning quality and quantity of work when doing installations and repairs and always ensure subordinates understand what is required from them – Ability to work with minimum supervision and to use initiative to do problem-solving or find alternative ways to resolve problems – Discipline to ensure site checklists are diligently completed and that corrective actions are executed where needed – Must be able to attend to after-hour maintenance emergencies i.e. fence/camera/boom gate/ turnstile/sliding gate repairs and damages. 5. QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE JOB – 4 to 5 years experience in similar security repair and maintenance environment – Formal security installation/repair training covering the following will be preferable i.e. palisades, electric fences, security alarms, lights & cameras, and security systems/procedures. 6.
