About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Commodity Specialist to join our team in Johannesburg. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a high-pressure, data-driven environment and can balance commercial strategy, technical understanding, and stakeholder engagement at senior levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Owning and managing commodity categories across raw materials and engineered components
  • Developing and executing commodity and sourcing strategies aligned to business objectives
  • Conducting spend analysis, market intelligence, and supplier benchmarking
  • Managing supplier sourcing, negotiations, and tender processes
  • Leading vendor performance management and long-term supplier relationships
  • Driving budget control, cost optimisation, and savings initiatives
  • Managing end-to-end procurement (E2E) processes from sourcing to contract execution
  • Collaborating closely with engineering, operations, and commercial teams
  • Managing and influencing internal and off-site stakeholders
  • Supporting procurement governance, compliance, and KPI achievement

Requirements

  • Strong exposure to heavy industry, manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environments
  • Proven experience sourcing raw materials and technical/engineered commodities
  • Experience managing complex supplier landscapes and strategic sourcing initiatives

Qualifications & Experience

  • BCom (Supply Chain / Procurement / Commercial) or Engineering qualification
  • 56 years of experience in a Commodity Specialist or senior procurement role
