Job Description

Minimum requirements: Grade 12 and any additional agricultural qualification will be advantageous Minimum of 5 years experience in a seminal management position Stable working history Must be fluent in Afrikaans and English Valid drivers license Experience with the following: Orchard Management: Plan, develop, and maintain the macadamia orchard, ensuring it is well-organized and efficiently laid out Oversee planting, grafting, and tree care to ensure healthy macadamia trees Crop Monitoring: Regularly inspect trees for signs of disease, pests, or nutritional deficiencies Implement pest and disease control measures as needed. Irrigation and Nutrition: Manage irrigation systems to ensure macadamia trees receive the appropriate amount of water Implement a fertilization program to maintain soil fertility and tree health Harvesting and Post-Harvest Handling: Schedule and coordinate macadamia nut harvesting to optimize yield and quality Oversee the processing and storage of harvested nuts Quality Control: Ensure that macadamia nuts meet quality standards, including size, flavour, and moisture content Implement sorting and grading procedures to achieve premium nut quality Labour Management: Recruit, train, and supervise farm labourers and seasonal workers Create work schedules and allocate tasks efficiently Budgeting and Financial Management: Develop and manage budgets for macadamia production Monitor expenses and seek cost-effective solutions Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of crop yields, expenses, and other farm-related data Use data to analyse and improve macadamia production processes Equipment and Infrastructure: Maintain and oversee the use of farm equipment and machinery Ensure that farm infrastructure, such as irrigation systems and storage facilities, is well-maintained Long-Term Planning: Develop and execute a strategic plan for the macadamia orchard’s growth and sustainability Explore opportunities for diversification and expansion Consultant: Anna-Belle Ehrke – Dante Personnel Mpumalanga Apply via our website www.dantesa.co.za // MP008518 If you do not hear from us within 5 days, please accept that your application was unsuccessful
