About the Role
Our client, a manufacturer of automotive components based in Durban, is seeking a qualified and experienced Buyer to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the purchasing process, ensuring cost-effectiveness, and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor Raw Material Budget & Spend
- Cost Reduction Activities & Projects
- Monitor and minimize price variances
- Supplier Price and Payment Term Negotiation
- Expediting of raw material and components as per budget and price
- Ensure supplier price updates are implemented as agreement
- Monitor stock holding of outsourced suppliers within stock policy
- Monitor supplier delivery performance (OTIF) daily
- Manage supplier agreements (Supply agreement & SLA) for direct material / component suppliers
- Manage BBBEE compliance for all suppliers
- Monthly reporting supplier performance
- Manage supplier risk
Requirements
- 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment
- Diploma or Degree in Purchasing / Supply Chain
- Knowledge of working with an MRP system
- Computer Literacy (Syspro Excell, Microsoft (Word, Powerpoint, Email))
- Knowledge of Purchasing Techniques
- Import & Export knowledge
