About the Role

We are seeking a Claims Learner to join our team in Sandton, where you will assist in the administration and claims processing functions. This 12-month learnership program is an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong administrative skills and a keen interest in the insurance industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administration and claims processing
  • Registration of new claims and loading/authorization of payments
  • Examination and validation of new claims and related documentation
  • Adjustment of claims to ensure merits align with company policy cover
  • Document diary maintenance on IMS system
  • Updating reserve as per reserving policy and following up outstanding proof of quantum
  • Analyzing claims exposure, determining the proper course of action, and settling claims within delegated authority
  • Approving claims within delegated authority after verification of all documents and validation thereof
  • Escalating complex and contentious claims to Supervisor
  • Managing external resources and handling claims in accordance with required procedures and company philosophy
  • Updating notes on the system regularly to reflect latest claim status
  • Informing underwriting department of gaps in cover, omitted documents, and losses/gains on premium
  • Handling customer enquiries and queries promptly and in-line with policy
  • Negotiating settlement of claims and liaising with Agent companies and brokers regularly
  • Updating all relevant stakeholders on the progress of the claim
  • Performing ad hoc tasks as required by the Line Manager
