About the Role
Our client in the engineering/manufacturing industry is seeking a Fabrication Assembly Shop Supervisor to join their skilled production team based in Benoni, Gauteng. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the fabrication schedule, supervising artisans, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Meet daily with the Production Manager to receive job packs and schedules.
- Oversee the full fabrication schedule from preparation to final assembly.
- Issue job files, drawings, and work instructions to artisans.
- Supervise artisans across all relevant departments to ensure adherence to instructions and standards.
- Conduct daily toolbox talks.
- Ensure compliance with DSTIs and OHS requirements.
- Collaborate with internal departments to optimize workflow and resolve issues.
- Coordinate assembly activities and welding operations across the facility.
- Ensure all boiler-making and welding activities meet required standards.
- Oversee NDT processes within the assembly area.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop environment.
- Ensure tools and equipment are maintained to standard.
- Provide daily and weekly progress reports to the Production Manager.
- Maintain job files, work instructions, and NDT documentation.
- Learn and support the operation of automated vertical tank-building machinery.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years experience in a fabrication facility with a proven track record.
- Strong technical understanding and mechanical aptitude.
- Supervisory qualification (required).
- Trade Test or Technical Diploma (advantageous).
