About the Role
Abantu Staffing Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Component Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and introducing locally manufactured components for our Africa products, ensuring they meet market requirements and adhere to environmental conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the group’s Africa products are engineered to market requirements by designing, developing, testing and introducing locally manufactured components.
- Adapt and develop group-sourced designs to be compatible with the group’s Africa responsible markets environmental conditions.
- Issue technical data in line with the correct component engineering level to meet the following criteria:
- Group Africa products are built problem-free
- Regional requirements in terms of local content and technical support are met
- Innovative and unique product feature development
- Safety and reliability in service
- Technical support for discontinued models (and still required in Africa)
- Technical development that adheres to the required Product Emergence Process (PEP) manual
- Release body department components and systems.
- Resolve design-related problems on all locally manufactured platforms.
- Keep an accurate record of part level and software built in production (Bill of Materials).
- Coordinate testing and release of components and systems.
- Initiate and drive cost savings on components in production.
Requirements
- Affirmative Action South African citizen
- National Diploma or Degree in Mechatronics/ Mechanical Engineering
- 1-3 years of experience in the development of automotive components (development/ improvements/ problem-solving) – specifically bumpers and door panels (plastic metal)
