About the Role
The Assistant General Management couple will support the General Managers in overseeing daily operations of a rural coastal hotel, ensuring exceptional guest experiences and maintaining Umngazi’s high service standards. This role requires strong hospitality and leadership skills, as well as the ability to speak and understand the Xhosa language and culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day hotel operations
- Support and inspire department teams
- Assist in implementing and maintaining efficient operational procedures
- Champion a guest-centric culture across all areas of the property
- Manage guest feedback and resolve concerns with professionalism and care
- Ensure compliance with financial protocols, labour legislation, and administrative requirements
- Work closely with the General Managers to ensure smooth seasonal operations
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment
- Build strong relationships with local suppliers, fishermen, and artisans
Requirements
- Proven stable work history within the hospitality industry
- A complementary couple with strong experience across F&B management, Front Office/Reservations, and Housekeeping
- South African residency essential
- Hotel school qualification advantageous (minimum requirement)
- Minimum 5 years’ senior hotel or resort management experience
- Strong all-round understanding of hospitality operations
- Demonstrated leadership and team development skills
- Solid financial and labour legislation knowledge
- Strong administrative and organisational ability
- Contactable references from previous employers
