About the Role
The Planning Officer role is a critical position in our mining operations, requiring an experienced professional with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to develop and maintain mine plans, optimize production performance, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain short-term and medium-term mine plans
- Compile daily, weekly and monthly production schedules
- Monitor production performance against plan and report variances
- Coordinate planning inputs with Mining, Engineering, Geology and Survey departments
- Identify production bottlenecks and recommend corrective actions
- Track equipment availability and optimise resource utilisation
- Participate in planning and production meetings
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory standards
- Prepare detailed operational and planning reports
Requirements
- Minimum Grade 12 (Matric) Diploma or Degree in Mining Engineering or related qualification
- Minimum 35 years experience in a mining planning role
- Previous mining contractor experience
- Experience in underground mining (platinum environment advantageous)
- Proficient in mine planning software (e.g. MineRP, Deswik, Datamine, Surpac or similar)
- Advanced MS Excel and reporting skills
- Sound knowledge of the Mine Health & Safety Act
- Valid Drivers License
