About the Role
A leading logistics company situated in Gauteng is urgently seeking an experienced General Manager to join their team of professionals. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and management expertise to drive business growth, improve operational efficiency, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and Organizing:
- Responsible for the short-, medium- and long-term planning for the business units under the incumbents control including operations, finance, administration, marketing, SHERQ. IT requirements and profitability.
- Establish reliable forecasts for the BUs monthly and over 1, 3 and 5 years.
- Business Development:
- Responsible for developing, establishing, securing, and maintaining business opportunities for the BUs, in consultation with Business Development.
- Explore opportunities and the validity of new business options related to the business units. Initiate proposals, coordinating and developing these into real opportunities.
- Customer Service:
- Liaise and participate with the clients of the various business units in so doing building and maintaining good client relationships.
- Profitability:
- Ensure that the respective business units pricing is competitive within the market whilst remaining profitable and keeping/securing business.
- Ensure sound planning, avoiding surprises resulting in less profitability.
- Operations:
- Ensure that staff are adequately trained to affect the highest operational standards.
- Ensure that available equipment is in good order, relevant to the type of work being done, and follow a sound replacement program.

Requirements
BCom in Logistics or National Diploma in Materials Handling, Logistics, Industrial Engineering
Minimum of 10 years experience in a broad spectrum of management, preferably in a Logistics or Supply Chain Environment
