About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Guide to join our team at Craven Cottage CC in the North West region of South Africa. As the head of our Guiding Department, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing staff, providing training and development opportunities, and ensuring exceptional service delivery to our guests. You will also be involved in daily game drives, bush walks, hosting duties, and assisting with other departments as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Meticulous in all aspects of Managing the Guiding Department
- Managing, Overseeing and Disciplining Staff in the Guiding Department
- Staff training and development
- All administrative duties pertaining to the Guiding Department
- Daily Game Drives & Bush walks
- Hosting Duties
- Assistance around the lodge in other departments if needed
- Providing sound leadership in the Rangers department to ensure that all guests have an exceptional and value-added safari experience during all game drives.
- Ensuring all field guides perform their duties in a manner that fully comply with legislation pertaining to FGASA, DEAT and the reserve that we operate in.
- Ensure the company’s ethos and culture is maintained in the Rangers department.
Requirements
- Grade 12
- FGASA Level 2 (NQF Level 4) essential
- DEAT registered
- Valid ARH, First Aid and PDP
- Back-up or Lead Trails
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a 4 / 5* Big-5 environment as a Head or Assistant Head Guide
- Wildlife photography experience would be a bonus
- A passion to train / mentor others in the guiding team
