About the Role
Wild Dreams Hospitality is seeking a detail-oriented and creative individual to oversee their photography program, guide volunteers in capturing nature through a lens, and ensure an overall well-structured and engaging experience in our remote wilderness setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading photography-focused field activities for volunteers, combining practical teaching with hands on experience
- Providing photographic guidance and mentorship, including camera use, composition, and ethical wildlife photography
- Upholding company standards for ethical wildlife viewing and photography
- Teaching a 4-week photographic course to volunteers of all skill levels
- Coordinating the daily and weekly photography programme schedule
- Supporting the smooth delivery of photography projects in collaboration with camp management and research teams
- Assisting with the onboarding and orientation of volunteers participating in photography programmes
- Ensuring photography activities align with conservation and research objectives
- Supporting the collection and organisation of photographic content for programme, research, or marketing use (where appropriate)
- Completing required administrative tasks and reporting related to the photography programme
- Communicating programme updates, challenges, and successes to the Camp Manager and head office as required
Requirements
- FGASA qualification or CATHSETA accreditation
- Valid First Aid certificate
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP)
- South African citizen or holder of a valid work visa
- Own camera equipment
- Photography Portfolio (experience in wildlife, landscape, or conservation photography beneficial)
- Ability to thrive in a remote and basic facility bush camp
- Previous experience in volunteer coordination, or conservation work advantageous
- Proficiency with DSLR/mirrorless cameras, lenses, and photo editing software
- Ability to teach, mentor, and inspire volunteers of all skill levels
- Strong organisational, communication, and reporting skills
- Passion for wildlife, ethical photography, and conservation.
- Adaptable, proactive, and comfortable in remote field environments
