About the Role
The Construction Manager will be responsible for overseeing the overall planning, coordination, supervision, and control of all construction activities related to the Thabamzibi project.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate with Management team and Contract manager regarding progress on site
- Manage day-to-day site operations and ensure the project is executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and contract requirements
- Plan and coordinate construction activities including earthworks, layer works, stormwater installation, kerbing, surfacing, and road markings
- Monitor the construction programme to ensure completion of works
- Supervise site personnel, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure productivity and quality standards are maintained
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations at all times
- Coordinate plant, equipment, and material requirements to avoid delays
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure workmanship meets required standards
- Liaise with the Engineer, Client representatives, and other stakeholders
- Manage quality control procedures, including testing of materials and completed works
- Identify potential risks and implement mitigation measures
- Prepare progress reports and attend site meetings
- Maintain proper record keeping of site activities and resources
Requirements
National Diploma in Civil Engineering
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in road construction projects
Proven experience in managing roadworks including earthworks, pavement layers, and asphalt surfacing
Strong knowledge of construction contracts and specifications applicable to road projects such as COLTO, GCC2015
Sound understanding of occupational health and safety legislation
Ability to manage teams and coordinate multiple subcontractors
Good communication, leadership, and organizational skills
