About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Manager to join our team at White Send Beach Resort Ltd, a renowned luxury hospitality property in South Africa. As a key member of our management team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient financial operation of the resort, while also providing strategic guidance to support business growth and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, review, and further develop the hotel’s complex financial reporting system.
- Ensure that all financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and control functions are prepared accurately, correctly, and in accordance with company standards and deadlines.
- Oversee the effective use, maintenance, and security of hotel IT systems, including PMS, ERP, and POS systems, and ensure that all relevant data is properly protected and utilized.
- Maintain, review, and update the company’s finance policies and procedures manual, and ensure that all accounting staff understand and follow these standards.
- Manage working capital and cash control, and prepare accurate cash flow forecasts.
- Ensure that all balance sheet accounts are properly reconciled on a timely basis, and safeguard company assets by creating and maintaining strong internal control systems.
- Work closely with all departments to identify and resolve system and control issues.
- Analyze financial data and operational performance in order to support and advise hotel management in achieving financial objectives.
- Lead, motivate, and manage the finance department and its team members.
- Cooperate effectively with both the hotel management team and the group management team.
- Build strong working relationships with department heads and provide financial guidance and support in relation to business plans and operational decisions.
- Maintain and update all legal documentation related to the financial status of the hotel.
- Develop and maintain relationships with relevant banks and insurance companies.
- Facilitate external audits, participate in group audits, and support the preparation of consolidated reporting.
- Liaise with local tax authorities, both independently and in cooperation with the General Manager and the group finance team.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role, such as Financial Controller, Assistant Director of Finance, or an equivalent finance position, ideally within a multi-outlet hospitality property.
- A proven track record of team leadership and people management.
- Knowledge of ORACLE systems, including FIDELIO/OPERA PMS, MICROS POS, and MC, is an advantage.
- Excellent financial and business analytical skills, together with strong communication and decision-making abilities.
- Strong financial knowledge.
- ACCA or a similar professional certification is an advantage.
- A solid understanding of financial operating systems, reporting, and procedures.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications, especially Excel.
- Knowledge of back office or accounting systems.
- Excellent English, both written and spoken.
