About the Role

Hire Resolve, a leading steel manufacturing company in Mpumalanga, is seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading the multidisciplinary engineering team to achieve business objectives in Safety, Operational Excellence, Asset management, Costs and Human Resource Development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the multidisciplinary engineering team to achieve business objectives in Safety, Operational Excellence, Asset management, Costs and Human Resource Development
  • Ensure Health, Safety, Environmental and Risk management compliance and application of best practices
  • Enforce Engineering standards and apply asset management best practices to optimize the asset value
  • Drive Operational Excellence, specifically availability, reliability, capability, efficiency and quality
  • Cost optimization with a focus on managing the life cycle cost of assets
  • Develop a high performing team with a pro-active and innovative mind-set
  • Drive continuous improvement of equipment, systems and people performance
  • Forecast and plan for the future resources, technology and equipment obsolescence

Requirements

  • BSc/BEng/B Tech in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Government Certificate of Competency – Factories with at least 5 years experience as GMR2
  • Minimum of 10 years senior management experience in heavy industrial manufacturing facilities
  • Highly effective people management, team building and communication skills (written and spoken)
  • Experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams and functions
  • Outcomes driven to achieve objectives (Safety, OEE, MTBF, MTTR and cost)
  • Sound understanding of the application of asset management practices and systems
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and the ability to cope under pressure and make tough decisions
  • Candidates who also have experience in capital project implementation and management will get preference
