Job Description
Duties & Responsibilities
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to analyse business, operational, and technical requirements across OT and IT environments
- Document technical specifications and ensure solutions account for networking, cybersecurity, data governance, and operational constraints
- Design, develop, configure, deploy, and maintain industrial software applications
- Develop HMI screens and supporting SCADA logic
- Integrate PLCs, historians, databases, and IIoT platforms
- Design and maintain SQL-based databases and relevant data models
- Develop optimised queries and ensure data integrity and system performance
- Design and implement APIs and messaging interfaces using protocols such as REST, MQTT, OPC UA or similar
- Contribute to system architecture and data flow design across OT and IT layers
- Execute structured testing across applications, SCADA, databases, and integrations
- Support deployment including server environments, networking, redundancy, and backup strategies
- Provide technical troubleshooting and support across software, OT connectivity, and infrastructure domains
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and architecture records
- Continuously develop skills in industrial automation, IIoT, integration practices, and cybersecurity
Experience & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Proficiency in Python, C#, Java, and SQL
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in industrial automation
- Practical experience with industrial platforms such as PLC, SCADA, or DCS
- Exposure to system integration involving databases, APIs, or messaging protocols
- Experience working across industrial sectors such as FMCG, Mining, Water, or Manufacturing
Technical Skills:
- High-level programming in Python, C#, or Java
- SQL database design and optimisation
- SCADA and HMI development
- API and integration design using REST, MQTT, OPC UA or similar
- Testing, debugging, and structured validation
- Industrial networking fundamentals including IP addressing and secure communication
- Understanding of IIoT, edge and cloud integration concepts
- Basic awareness of industrial cybersecurity standards

Salary
A market-related package is offered in the region of approximately R30 000 to R35 000 per month CTC, depending on experience.
The package may include travel allowances, employer contributions toward medical aid, standby allowances, and additional company benefits in line with policy.
