About the Role
Humanatics Ltd is seeking a Qualified Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant to join our team in Johannesburg. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will be responsible for providing pharmaceutical care services and performing day-to-day dispensary administration under the supervision of a Pharmacist/Responsible Pharmacist.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide pharmaceutical care services within scope of practice
- Perform day-to-day dispensary administration according to Company’s Standard Operating Plans (SOPs)
- Administer scripts to provide general dispensing duties with an emphasis on customer satisfaction
- Interact with customers in a professional manner and within strict confidentiality
- Maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and agreed timelines
- Provide accurate information and instructions to patients concerning the correct usage of medication supplied
- Promote patient health within scope of practice
- Accurately interpret and evaluate registered physicians’ prescriptions
- Check the appropriateness and legality of all scripts in accordance with the South African Pharmacy Council
- Assist in stock management (merchandising, unpacking and packing of stock) of schedule 1 to schedule 5 medicines or scheduled substances as approved by the Responsible Pharmacist
- Ensure accurate picking, and labelling of medication and that it is checked and signed by a Pharmacist
- Prepare and dispense all schedule 1 and non-scheduled medication according to protocol requirements, the Pharmacy Act, the Medicines and Related Substances Act, and Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) within scope of practice
- Assist with the manipulation, preparation and compounding of non-sterile medicines to a formula according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Re-packing of medicine
- Maintain accurate profiles worked on
- Keep up-to-date with changes in medical aid procedures and claiming requirements of medicine
- Interact with healthcare professionals where needed
- Respond to customer queries and medication-related issues via telephone or other means
- Participate in pharmacy Stock Take events
- Adhere to all management Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and/or guidelines, etc.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures according to prescribed procedures and legislation
Requirements
- Grade 12 qualification preferably with science and mathematics as subjects
- Basic assistant qualification
- Own reliable transport
- Clear criminal and credit records
- At least 3 years experience working in a retail Pharmacy environment
- Strong customer relationship management ability
- Effective Computer literacy (e.g., UNISOLVE, Xprocure)
- Integrity

- Good language skills; fluent in English and at least one other official language
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Remain attentive in an often-busy environment
