About the Role
The MRC/Wits Rural Public Health and Health Transitions Research Unit (Agincourt) is seeking a highly skilled Finance Administrator to join their team for a 12-month contract. As part of the research operations team, you will support the grants department in administering daily accounting tasks, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Process financial transactions including invoices, journals, and payments on the WHC portal
- Obtain quotations and process procurement when required
- Prepare monthly creditor reconciliations
- Reconciliation of Unit’s credit card expenses
- Prepare & process staff reimbursements for payments
- Assist with asset verification
- Understand the Fixed Asset Register
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, researchers, and external funders when necessary
- Ensure adherence to institutional financial policies and procedures
Requirements
- National Diploma in Finance/Accounting or BCom Accounting Degree or similar
- 1-3 years of experience in a Finance or Accounts role (Accounts Payable/Receivable)
- Computer literate (Excel and MS Word)
- Knowledge and experience of Accounting software
- Understanding of basic accounting principles and ability to reconcile general ledger
