About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Financial Controller to join our Ultra-Luxury Hotel in Sea Point, South Africa. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations and ensuring accurate financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepares monthly management accounts
- Reconciles balance sheet accounts
- Prepares general ledger journals
- Ensures compliance with SOPs and legal requirements
- Manages AP/AR, petty cash, and daily income audits
- Monitors hotel cash control and working capital
- Assists with annual budgets, forecasting, and expense monitoring
- Acts as a liaison between the finance department and other operational departments to ensure accurate revenue reporting
- Supervises accounting staff
Requirements
- Grade 12 Degree in Accounting or Finance, or relevant professional qualification
- At least 3–5 years in a hotel accounting role, with experience in hotel systems
- Proficiency in Excel, strong analytical capabilities, knowledge of IFRS and local tax legislation
- Demonstrated experience serving an international, high-net-worth, and culturally diverse clientele
- Thorough understanding of the intimate, detail-obsessed, and hyper-personalised service culture that defines a 102-key operation
