About the Role
The Bookkeeper Intern will support the accounting team in maintaining accurate financial records while being developed towards financial reporting, annual financial statements (AFS) preparation, and tax administration support.
Key Responsibilities
- Capture and process financial transactions.
- Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate accounting records.
- Organise supporting documentation.
- Assist with monthly close processes.
- Prepare working papers and reconciliations.
- Review transactions for accuracy.
- Identify discrepancies.
- Process supplier invoices and payments.
- Prepare customer invoices.
- Manage debtor and creditor schedules.
- Follow up on outstanding payments.
- Assist with payroll preparation.
- Support payroll processing under supervision.
- Maintain payroll records.
- Assist with statutory submissions.
- Assist with VAT reconciliations.
- Compile supporting schedules.
- Assist with income tax preparation.
- Maintain tax documentation.
- Process transactions on accounting systems (e.g., XERO, QuickBooks).
- Maintain data accuracy.
- Support system improvements.
- Assist in drafting monthly management accounts.
- Prepare and maintain AFS working papers.
- Support preparation of Annual Financial Statements (AFS).
- Assist in financial analysis and variance explanations.
- Compile supporting schedules for tax computations.
- Assist in preparing provisional and annual tax packs.
- Support VAT and income tax processes (under supervision).
- Ensure all working papers are accurate and review-ready.

Qualifications
Degree in Accounting or Finance. Matric. Basic bookkeeping knowledge. Excel proficiency. Familiarity with accounting systems is an advantage.
