About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Airfreight Controller to join our team in Johannesburg, responsible for coordinating end-to-end airfreight operations across imports, exports, and cross trade. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Incoterms, Customs, and import/export procedures, as well as excellent communication skills to act as the primary client contact.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate end–to–end airfreight operations (imports, exports, cross trade)
- Prepare and process documentation including AWB, declarations, transporter instructions, etc.
- Act as the primary client contact, providing updates, tracking information, and resolving shipment issues
- Liaise with airlines, agents, handlers, and transporters to arrange collections, deliveries, and bookings
- Manage internal costings, file registration, airline rate negotiations, and accurate invoicing via CargoWise
- Apply strong knowledge of Incoterms, Customs, and import/export procedures
- Ensure compliance with DRG and Part 108 requirements
Requirements
- 35 years airfreight experience (exceptional candidates with less will be considered)
- CargoWise experience is essential
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Excel
- Group A (previously CAT6) certification advantageous
- Strong understanding of industry regulations and operational processes
