Job Description
We are seeking a disciplined and detail-oriented Accountant: Member Accounts to manage the accuracy and integrity of member financial accounts. This role ensures all member-related transactions are correctly allocated, reconciled, and controlled. You will oversee daily allocations, manage reconciliations, administer the member rewards system, and strengthen financial controls. Your goal is to maintain transparency, accuracy, and reliability in member accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily allocation and reconciliation of member payments and receipts
- Manage and review the work of the Member Accounts team
- Reconcile merchant settlement accounts to bank statements and general ledger
- Perform monthly reconciliations of member receipts and balances
- Manage member account queries, discrepancies, and refunds
- Administer the member rewards system and ensure accurate calculation and payouts
- Prepare and upload monthly rewards and related banking files
- Implement and strengthen financial controls relating to member accounts
- Monitor and report on member balances and financial trends
- Maintain strong relationships with banking partners and payment gateways
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve finance systems and processes
- Support projects and system improvements related to member accounts
Requirements
Requirements & Experience
- 35 years experience in an accounting role
- Experience in cash management, allocations, and reconciliations
- Experience managing or supervising a small team is advantageous
- Experience handling customer or member account queries
- Familiarity with high-volume financial transactions is advantageous
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls
- Proficiency in accounting systems and financial reporting tools
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong numerical accuracy and reconciliation abilities
- Knowledge of banking processes and payment platforms
Qualifications
- Relevant BCom Degree in Accounting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple financial processes and deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills for query and stakeholder management
- Proactive mindset focused on improving financial processes
