About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Executive Chef to join our team in Johannesburg, responsible for leading kitchen operations, menu development, and culinary innovation in a fast-paced corporate environment. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing high-volume catering and corporate dining services, with expertise in menu development across multiple dietary needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all kitchen operations, ensuring smooth execution of events and corporate dining services.
- Design and implement creative, diverse, and dietary-inclusive menus for corporate clients, private events, and large-scale functions.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and incorporate new techniques, flavours, and dietary trends (vegan, gluten-free, allergen-friendly, etc.).
- Recruit, train, and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a high-performance, collaborative, and professional work environment.
- Ensure food is consistently prepared to the highest standards of taste, presentation, and safety.
- Develop and maintain budgets, oversee food purchasing, and control waste to maximize efficiency and profitability.
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety regulations, health codes, and company policies.
- Work closely with corporate clients and event planners to tailor menus that align with event themes, budgets, and dietary preferences.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers to ensure the best quality ingredients and cost-effective procurement.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Executive Chef or Head Chef in a corporate or events-driven environment.
- Strong background in high-volume catering and corporate dining.
- Expertise in menu development across multiple dietary needs (vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, kosher, etc.).
- Leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to manage and inspire a kitchen team.
- Deep understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations.
