Key Responsibilities Oversee the general management of the housekeeping department in collaboration with the Executive Housekeeper. Set and maintain housekeeping service standards in alignment with operational goals. Ensure the timely availability of clean rooms and verify daily inspections conducted by Floor Supervisors. Conduct regular training sessions on guest service, hygiene, cleanliness, and SOPs to ensure world-class service delivery. Lead and inspire a large team, building teamwork, accountability, and a culture of excellence. Manage staff processes, including recruitment, performance management, industrial relations, and professional presentation standards. Oversee cost management, stock control, workforce planning, rostering, and daily administration. Requirements Matric qualification. Flexibility to work shifts. Own transport (advantageous). Proficiency in MS 365 (essential) and knowledge of Opera (advantageous). Proven ability to lead and manage large teams effectively. Validated experience in a similar role within the housekeeping department of a busy, upmarket establishment: essential. Strong housekeeping operational background, with expertise in cost management, stock monitoring, workforce planning, and recruitment. Competencies Accuracy and devotion to quality. You will be responsible for the general management of the housekeeping department in conjunction with the Executive Housekeeper. Setting (in conjunction with the Executive Housekeeper) and maintaining housekeeping service standards; ensuring the timely availability of clean rooms in accordance with housekeeping operating standards; and ensuring that the Floor Supervisors have carried out daily room inspections will form part of this role. You will conduct regular guest service, hygiene, and cleanliness training, along with SOP training, with staff so they can offer world-class service to our guests. Aside from this, you will lead a large team, building teamwork and personal accountability, and manage staff processes such as personal presentation, recruitment, performance management, and IR. Along with your Matric Certificate ; you have a track record of leading and managing large teams as well as experience in a similar role within the housekeeping department in a busy, up-market hotel. You have a strong operational background in housekeeping ; with expertise in cost management, stock monitoring, workforce planning & rostering, IR, recruitment and selection, and daily administration . You are flexible and able to work shifts. Having your own transport will be advantageous. Demonstrated knowledge of using technology, including MS 365 and Opera ; will strengthen your application.
