About the Role

The Branch Manager will be responsible for managing the Western Cape Agency branch office, participating in company management, and driving revenue maximization while reducing operational costs. The ideal candidate will possess commercial and operational knowledge of the ships agency industry, with a strong focus on customer sales, operations, and freight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the Western Cape Agency branch office and participate in the management of the company.
  • Differentiate the agency from competitors in the marketplace.
  • Focus on revenue maximization.
  • Drive to reduce the cost of doing business.
  • Set and maintain budgets.
  • Manage staff complement to achieve best productivity and comply with relevant Labour laws and procedures.
  • Maintain a positive presence with all importers and exporters and actively support Sales Staff in the execution of their activities.
  • Maintain customer calls/visits and personal relationship with key customers as well as allocated customers, including daily CRM updates and reporting.
  • Manage the export booking performance of the vessels, targeting best spread with full slot utilisation.
  • Oversee equipment supply and claims resolution.
  • Oversee vessel operations to attain best productivity and level of service from both NPA & Transnet and Container Depots.
  • Assist with vessel Ops where necessary with all functions as required back up to vessel operator.
  • Fully conversant with Import and Export freight matters.
  • Strong operational and freight background.
  • Strong reefer experience.
  • Oversee Marketing, Import, Export & Operations at Branch Level.
  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reporting as required and requested.

Requirements

  • Commercial and operational knowledge of the ships agency industry.
  • 10 -15 years management experience.
  • High level of customer/sales, operations, and freight focus.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Computer/systems literate.
  • Extensive knowledge of reefer industry.
