About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Business Continuity Management Specialist to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for ensuring the continuity of our operations in the event of disruptions or disasters. You will work closely with various teams to develop and implement business continuity plans, conduct risk assessments, and provide advice on information security fundamentals.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct risk assessments and evaluate information systems and networks to identify potential ICT security and business continuity vulnerabilities.
- Analyze business information risk and generate relevant solutions to safeguard information against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure.
- Provide advice to business units on information security fundamentals.
- Update Business Continuity Management (BCM) policies and procedures.
- Build a Business Impact Analysis (BIA) to assess internal and external threats and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Develop a BCM strategy leveraging existing efforts and best practices.
- Drive the delivery of BCM plans and coordinate activities amongst various work streams.
- Work closely with technology teams to ensure their disaster recovery plans for critical systems and applications are consistent with the company’s plans.
- Manage and coordinate the efforts of functional managers or service line managers.
- Coordinate BCP testing programs and actively participate in testing scenarios.
- Initiate and coordinate training and awareness programs.
- Ensure that BCM plans are developed to maintain and restore business processes within required timescales.
Requirements
- Relevant experience in Business Continuity Planning/Disaster Recovery/Crisis Management (minimum 3 years).
- Knowledge and skills in incident investigation, document auditing, risk management, reporting, and administration.
- Strong administration focus, including diary management, setting up meetings and logistics.
- Experience with automated notification systems for rapid creation and distribution of critical messaging.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 post-matric qualification preferable.
- Relevant certifications or qualifications in Business Continuity Management (e.g., ISO22301 or BS 25999).
