About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Team Leader to lead our Credit Analyst team in Cape Town City Centre, responsible for ensuring high-quality output and optimized performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical background, excellent leadership skills, and a deep understanding of credit risk management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of Credit Analysts
- Foster a culture of continuous learning through coaching, upskilling, and onboarding support for new starters
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Front Office, Legal, Compliance, and broader Credit divisions
- Oversee and prepare high-quality credit applications
- Conduct in-depth analysis of financial statements, market dynamics, and client creditworthiness
- Ensure all applications align with internal credit policies, regulatory requirements, and risk frameworks
- Participate in pre-deal discussions to shape deal structuring and provide effective credit solutions
- Manage deal flow, resource allocation, and turnaround times to drive operational efficiency
- Support analysts on complex presentations, ensuring accuracy and high-quality delivery
- Maintain strong awareness of the broader credit environment and apply sector insights to decision-making
- Liaise with Legal and Compliance to ensure correct sanction documentation
- Build collaborative internal relationships to support operational success
Requirements
- Minimum 35 years experience in credit risk management within the commercial or corporate environment
- Strong analytical ability with deep understanding of financial statements and credit ratios
- Familiarity with the National Credit Act
- Strong financial and business acumen
Qualifications
- BCom degree (Finance / Accounting)
- Postgraduate qualification or professional certifications (CA, CFA, CIMA, MBA) advantageous
