About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Team Leader to lead our Corporate Credit Analyst team in Cape Town City Centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for fostering a culture of continuous learning, driving operational efficiency, and delivering high-quality credit solutions that align with our internal policies and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of Credit Analysts, ensuring high-quality output and optimized performance
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning through coaching, upskilling, and onboarding support for new starters
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Front Office, Legal, Compliance, and broader Credit divisions
  • Oversee and prepare high-quality credit applications, ensuring seamless presentations to senior management committees
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of financial statements, market dynamics, and client creditworthiness
  • Ensure all applications align with internal credit policies, regulatory requirements, and risk frameworks
  • Participate in pre-deal discussions to shape deal structuring and provide effective credit solutions
  • Manage deal flow, resource allocation, and turnaround times to drive operational efficiency
  • Support analysts on complex presentations, ensuring accuracy and high-quality delivery
  • Maintain strong awareness of the broader credit environment and apply sector insights to decision-making
  • Liaise with Legal and Compliance to ensure correct sanction documentation
  • Build collaborative internal relationships to support operational success
  • Accompany Portfolio Managers on client visits to understand business operations and risk drivers

Requirements

  • Minimum 35 years experience in credit risk management within the commercial or corporate environment
  • Strong analytical ability with deep understanding of financial statements and credit ratios
  • Familiarity with the National Credit Act
  • Strong financial and business acumen

Qualifications

  • BCom degree (Finance / Accounting)
  • Postgraduate qualification or professional certifications (CA, CFA, CIMA, MBA) advantageous
