About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our finance team, providing strategic financial guidance and oversight to senior management, and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned finance professional to take on a key leadership role in a dynamic organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly and annual reports and management accounts across entities
- Draft financial board reports for directors and trustees, present annual financial statements
- Manage year-end audit processes, liaise with external auditors
- Oversee annual budgets, half-year forecasts, rolling forecasts and scenario planning
- Analyse variances, monitor transactional trends and flag risks to senior management
- Manage cash flow, working capital, reserves and approval of payments
- Ensure compliance with tax, trust, company and PBO legislation, oversee SARS submissions
- Maintain donor-restricted/unrestricted reporting and compliance with grant agreements
- Act as the POPIA Information Officer, managing compliance and reporting requirements
- Oversee debtors, creditors and the full finance teams daily activities
- Work with Operations on supplier contracts, property management and cost-saving initiatives
- Oversee insurance (art, stock, property, contents) and annual renewals, manage claims
- Maintain accurate stock and art records through team oversight
- Supervise payroll review, statutory returns and HR matters for direct reports; assist with hiring and performance management
- Execute ad-hoc financial and operational assignments as needed
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years finance experience
- 2 years managing at least 12 people
- Strong experience preparing monthly management accounts across balance sheet and income statement
- Experience overseeing full finance function including reporting, compliance, cash flow and audits
- Exposure to multi-entity environments (companies, trusts, PBOs)
- Experience working with foreign currencies or foreign entities
- Computer savvy and comfortable working with financial systems and reporting tools
Qualifications
- BCom in Accounting / Finance
- OR Equivalent
- Additional finance-related postgraduate studies advantageous
