About the Role
The Building Company is seeking a skilled Merchandiser to join our team in Cape Town City Centre. As a key member of our customer service team, you will be responsible for ensuring that all stock is correctly and neatly located, binned and displayed at all times. You will also be responsible for maintaining equipment, upholding company values and culture, and promoting product promotions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Customer Base: Ensure excellent customer service and build strong relationships with customers.
- Achieve Sales and Gross Profit Targets: Meet or exceed sales targets through effective personal selling and finding new business opportunities.
- Administration and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of stock levels, customer interactions, and sales performance.
- Merchandising of Stock: Ensure that all racks, bays, gondolas, and display systems are maintained in a good and clean state at all times.
- Follow up on quotes: Check on the status of outstanding quotes and follow up with customers to resolve any issues.
- Placement of stock: Ensure that stock is placed correctly in the warehouse or retail space.
- Returning Stock not removed from location: Identify and return stock that has not been removed from its original location.
- Reporting on Damaged Stock: Report any damaged stock to management for repair or replacement.
- Receiving and Checking: Check incoming stock for damage or discrepancies and report any issues to management.
- Reporting on Depletion or removal of stock: Monitor and report on stock levels, including depletion or removal of stock.
- Product Promotions: Assist with product promotions and advertising campaigns.
Requirements
- Grade 12
- Minimum 1-2 years experience in a similar position
- 1 year shelf packing/merchandising experience
- Knowledge of general building material environment is essential
- Proven success in personal selling (achieving sales targets), customer service, finding new business (customer) and converting it to actual sales.
- Ability to manage and coordinate regular stock takes
