Job Description
The Construction Director – Power is responsible for the end-to-end construction delivery of all power generation and grid infrastructure projects across Phelan’s portfolio. This includes utility-scale Solar PV plants, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), MV/HV substations, and associated grid connection infrastructure across multiple regions.

- Programme & Project Planning
- Solar PV & BESS Construction Oversight
- Contractor & Commercial Management
- HSE, Quality & Compliance
- Reporting & Stakeholder Management
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering (Electrical preferred).
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in large-scale power or renewable infrastructure construction.
- Proven delivery of multiple utility-scale Solar PV projects, including programmes exceeding several hundred MW.
- Demonstrated experience with BESS deployment and HV substation construction.
- Strong understanding of EPC/EPCM contracts, grid compliance, and construction law.
- Experience managing large, multi-project capital portfolios (R10bn+ preferred).
