About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented DTP operator to join our clothing manufacturing team in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will be responsible for applying graphic designs across graded sizes of a pattern, and that the artwork is precise. This includes conducting test prints to ensure logos print in high resolution and colors match the approved artwork or samples.
Key Responsibilities
- Use approved artwork to digitally create size splits in relevant garment patterns/styles.
- Ensure that all style codes match the Production Board and that correct patterns are used.
- Update workflow management systems accurately. Changing statuses timeously when steps are completed.
- Verify accurate logo placement and dimensions as per the approved artwork.
- Ensure designs are graded to reflect approved artwork in every size ordered.
- Schedule and conduct print tests and checks to ensure accuracy before handing orders over to production.
- Ensure print tests match approved artwork (attention to detail on colors, logo placement, and dimensions is critical).
- Collaborate with DTP team members to check each other’s work thoroughly.
- Verify artwork alignment, seam allowances, and high-resolution logos before proceeding with the production of an order.
- Ensure all files are saved correctly before handing jobs over to the print department.
- Inspect finished products for defects, color accuracy, and adherence to design specifications.
- Perform necessary adjustments to ensure quality standards are met.
- Work closely with designers, production staff, and other team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of products.
- Communicate effectively about job progress and any challenges encountered.
Requirements
- Matric certificate.
- Certificate, diploma, or degree in Graphic Design.
- 2 years of experience in a similar role. Experience in sublimation printing or the clothing and textile industry will be advantageous.
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and methodical work approach.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and handle pressure.
- Target-driven mindset.
- Self-motivated and able to prioritize workload.
