About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Cost Accountant to join our team at Communicate Finance in the Western Cape region. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for analyzing financial data, managing stock control processes, and providing critical support to our production and warehouse teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse material, labour, overhead, and margin variances
- Track production yields, waste, and material usage vs standards
- Maintain BOM accuracy and standard costing
- Partner with production and warehouse teams to drive efficiency
- Manage stock control processes, including cycle counts and stock takes
- Investigate and resolve stock variances and root causes
- Monitor slowmoving, obsolete, and highrisk inventory
- Ensure accuracy of GRNs, production issues, and dispatch movements
- Process transactions up to trial balance
- Prepare journals, reconciliations, and support monthend
- Assist with management reporting, budgets, and forecasts
- Support VAT submissions and fixed asset records
- Maintain strong financial controls and process discipline
- Support internal and external audits
- Track KPIs and flag risks or variances early
Requirements
- Minimum 2–5 years’ experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment
- Strong cost accounting, stock control, and variance analysis skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, onsite factory environment
- Strong Excel skills (SQL exposure an advantage)
- ERP experience within a manufacturing setting preferred
Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting or Finance
- CIMA completed or in progress (Strategic level or above preferred)
